In a word -- yes! In three words -- I hope so :) So far the history doesn't support my viewpoint, but since right now Microsoft is behind the push they might actually succeed, and that will be A Good Thing. MS Research has very bright people behind very interesting concepts for web, and I believe they will be able to deliver something better. And since MS holds the key to IE, they'll be able to push it very well.

Jevgeni Kabanov, do you mean the RIA is a game for Avalon, Flash etc., not for Ajax?

Was hoping to see more on GWT than the Web Development in general.

The thing to keep in mind is that it is not a matter on how good platform the application is written on but how popular will the application be. AJAX, GWT, HTTP, HTML and the rest of
junk will still be in existence as long as they are the only tools in solving the common problems demanded by user worldwide.

As I understand you mean that non-ajax application can be made usable-enough so that we wouldn't need ajax in most of the cases in business software.

If so I'd like to point out that the claim "It is badly analyzed software that plagues the business world, not the non-AJAX one." is a bit too ambiguous and should rather be expressed as "badly usability-analyzed" or "badly usability-tested".
